Regent.paris — Modernisation & Intelligence

From your legacy systems
to your AI future

You are trapped inside software that nobody understands anymore. I read it, I extract its logic, and I build you a modern, intelligent successor — AI-ready, delivered fast, without the pain.

The reality on the ground

Your software holds you hostage

Thousands of European businesses depend today on obsolete systems they can no longer evolve, that their teams no longer understand, and to which they are bound.

IBM i / AS400 / RPG

Shortage of experts, progressive end of support. Your critical system runs on technology the market is abandoning.

COBOL / Delphi / WinDev

Declining or vanished vendors. Every change costs a fortune. Every bug is a crisis.

Orphan applications

The original developer has retired. Business logic is buried in code that nobody reads anymore.

Critical dependency

A single vendor holds all the knowledge of your system. If they leave, your business stops.

"I don't replace your software. I reposition your company for the future." — Jacques Regent, Founder of Regent.paris

A transformation in three acts

A structured yet agile approach: first we understand what you have, then we free what is precious, finally we build what carries you far.

I

Act 1 — Liberation

I understand
your past

I read what nobody else can read anymore. I map your system, I extract the buried business logic, and I make legible what seemed incomprehensible.

  • Full audit of the existing system
  • Functional reverse engineering
  • Data and process mapping
  • Living, transferable documentation
II

Act 2 — Transformation

I project you
toward AI

I rebuild your system on an open, modular, AI-ready-by-design architecture. Your data is freed, your processes are automatable, your future is open.

  • Modern, modular architecture
  • Structured data ready for AI
  • Native integration of intelligent agents
  • Zero vendor lock-in
III

Act 3 — Sovereignty

I make you
autonomous

My goal is that you no longer need me. I transfer knowledge to your teams, I train, I document. You take back control of your own digital destiny.

  • Internal teams training
  • Structured skills transfer
  • Technical and functional documentation
  • Post-delivery support

Our commitments

Five promises kept

What sets Regent.paris apart from traditional approaches — why the timelines are shorter, the costs controlled, and the changes of direction welcome.

01

I understand your past

30 years of expertise on the systems the market has forgotten. I read your code the way a historian reads archives.

02

I free you

End of dependency on a single vendor, a single expert, a doomed technology.

03

I deliver fast

No 18-month tunnel. A first operational version in weeks, continuous iterations.

04

I adapt without pain

A changing spec is not a drama — it is the next iteration. No penalty.

05

You stay in control

Open architecture, documented code, trained teams. Your autonomy is the goal, not dependency.

Regent.paris vs the traditional approach

Criterion Classic approach Regent.paris
Delivery timelines 18 to 36 months, often overrun First deliveries in weeks
Changing specifications Costly addenda, conflicts, delays Welcome — it is the next iteration
Legacy comprehension Partial analysis, risk of gaps Native reading — I speak every dialect
AI-readiness Not planned, requires a later rebuild AI-ready by design from the start
Client autonomy New dependency on the integrator Skills transfer, living documentation
Pricing Large accounts only Accessible to SMEs and mid-caps

Who for

Do you recognise yourself in one of these portraits?

A

SMEs/mid-caps with ageing systems

"We can't find anyone to maintain our AS400 anymore."

I know your system, and I build what comes next.

B

CIO under IBM budget pressure

"Maintenance costs explode every year."

A measured ROI on the rebuild, delivered in controlled phases.

C

Executive without an internal CIO

"I depend on a vendor I no longer understand."

Take back control of your own information system.

D

Mid-cap in growth or acquisition

"We acquired a company with an IS we don't know."

Audit, mapping, integration — I decipher the unknown.

E

Software vendor in transition

"Our customers move to SaaS, we can't keep up."

I transform your offering to make it competitive and AI-native.

F

Public sector / Non-profit

"We're trapped in proprietary software with no alternative."

Digital sovereignty and autonomy — within a controlled budget.

Track record

Forty years modernising systems

From Cargill to Groupama, from AS400 mainframes to modern web interfaces. A continuous trajectory in modernising critical systems, on stacks few still dare to address today.

Career path

1984 — 1999
Cargill — International trading

Fifteen years in grain trading across six European countries. Programmer-analyst, project manager, technical lead, then IT manager. AS400 mainframe, RPG, CLP, DB2, Synon. Interfacing with Murex (Unix futures management) and JDE. Cross-border replication France↔United Kingdom, leading a European team.

2000 — 2008
César France — IT Manager (140 people)

End-to-end IT leadership: AS400 V5, ERP Orchestra, server room, Citrix, Lotus Notes, Mac. Roll-out of a global Intranet, centralised product database, reporting tools, pre-sales system for the field force. RPG, CLP and Windev developments.

2009 — 2024
Independent consultant — eight sectoral assignments

AS400 legacy modernisation and full-stack development for insurance, wine industry, manufacturing, healthcare, logistics and engineering offices. Windev / Webdev / Webservices / Windev Mobile stack alongside the historic legacy, with one common thread: never break what works to bring forth what comes next.

2024 →
Founding Regent.paris

Explicit focus on legacy systems modernisation and sovereign AI (Mistral, EU hosting, your data on your premises). Picking up the promise where off-shore subcontracting and generic consultancies have abandoned it.

Selected work

Groupama
Savings and retirement insurance — since 2021

Bridge between AS400 legacy and modern web: design and maintenance of Webdev 26 sites, Windev web services, business batches, and the implementation of a private secure token system. Coexistence of AS400 + Oracle + WebDev with no disruption to the historical IS.
